Ignas Mažvila
Ignas Mažvila is principal bassoonist in Danish Chamber Orchestra since 2010 and member of Athelas Sinfonietta since 2023. As a guest principal bassoonist, he has played with orchestras such as Rotterdam Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony, Kremerata Baltica, Gothenburg Symphony, Copenhagen Philharmonic, Danish National Symphony, Mahler Jugendorchester, EUYO, Iceland Symphony, HALLÉ Symphony and many other orchestras.
Being an appreciated chamber musician, his name appears in festivals like Lockenhaus in Austria, Festival International de Musique de Chambre en Charente in France, Kalmarsund summer festival in Sweden, Fejø Chamber Music festival in Denmark. The artists he has collaborated include Gidon Kremer, Alessandro Carbonare and Dora Seres, among others.
Born in a musician’s family in 1985 in Vilnius, Lithuania, Ignas studied in National M. K. Čiurlionis-School in Arts with A. Ančerevičius. He studied with Prof. Asger Svendsen in the Malmö Academy of Music, with Prof. Eckart Hübner in the UDK Berlin, and with Prof. Ole Kristian Dahl in the MUHO Mannheim.
