Hilda Kunnola
Hilda Kunnola (b. 2000) began studying the harp at the Turku Conservatory in 2009, entered the Junior Sibelius Academy in 2014 and the Senior Academy in 2019 as a pupil of Päivi Severeide. She is at present working for a Bachelor’s degree as an exchange student at the University of Music Freiburg, where her teacher is Kirsten Ecke.
Kunnola has been a soloist and appeared in chamber repertoire with, among others, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, at the Helsinki Chamber Summer and Toivakka Chamber Music Festivals, and the Helsinki Harp Festival. Her orchestral appearances have included gigs in the ranks of the Oulu Symphony, Tapiola Sinfonietta and Pärnu City Orchestra. She made her debut as a Young Soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra in spring 2019 and in the same year was chosen by the Pro Musica Foundation as one of its Young Musicians of the Year. A harpist who enjoys landscapes and painting, she has masterminded several concerts combining various genres such as dance, visual arts and music.
She plays a Lyon and Healy 23 instrument funded partly with a grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
