Basile Ausländer

Basile Ausländer was born in Lausanne (Switzerland) in 1996. He started playing the cello at the age of five, as a student of Denis Guy at the Conservatoire de Lausanne, and made his first solo appearance at the age of fourteen. In 2011, for his foundation year at the Conservatoire de Lausanne, he entered the class of François Salque, also Professor at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP), and got his Master Soloist’s degree with top marks in 2017. In August 2017, he joined the cello class of Marko Ylönen at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he graduated in 2021. He has further attended numerous masterclasses with Ivan Monighetti, Gary Hoffman, Philippe Müller, Marc Coppey, Boris Andrianov and others.

Ausländer was several times awarded the first prize in the Swiss Youth Music Competition and took part in international competitions: the Georg Enescu, Benedetto Mazzacurati and ARD. He is a regular extra with the Chamber Orchestra of Lausanne, the Finnish Radio Symphony, the Helsinki Philharmonic and the MusicAeterna orchestra. Since 2017, he has been a permanent player in the CameratAmoyal led by Pierre Amoyal, and the New Baroque Ensemble, with Daniel Schnyder, Thomas Dobler, Adam Taubitz, Miquel Angel Cordero and Caroline Lambelé, a crossover group combining jazz and classical music.

Since January 2022, Ausländer has been a permanent tutti player in the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. He also gets invited to lead the cello section in the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire (FR), the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra (FI) and others after numerous successful auditions.
