Siljamari Heikinheimo

Siljamari Heikinheimo frequently performs as a chamber musician and as a soloist. She was a member of the Radio Symphony Orchestra from 2012 to 2016 and currently plays with several Nordic orchestras as a visiting concertmaster or section leader. She can often be heard as a part of ensembles like Avanti!, Jousia Ensemble, and Virtuosi di Kuhmo, and at various music festivals, such as the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, the Crusell Festival, and the Riihimäki Summer Concert Series.

She is the artistic designer of the Sonorous Books Concert Series, which started in the autumn of 2016. Her need to broaden her artistic expression to theatre stages has led her to take up studies in opera directing as well. She has worked as a director trainee in the Düsseldorf Opera and in the Komische Opera in Berlin, and as an assistant director in e.g. the Finnish National Opera.

Heikinheimo started her violin studies in the Espoo Music School under teachers Päivyt Meller, Jerzy Błaszkiewicz, and Grazyna Gebert, and went on to study at the Sibelius Academy. Heikinheimo has also studied in the Edsberg Music Institute under Ulf Wallin. She graduated from the Sibelius Academy in 2011 after studying with Petri Aarnio. Some has taken part in master classes with notable teachers including Mi-Kyung Lee, Pavel Vernikov, Antti Tikkanen, Hagai Shaham, Ferenc Rados, and Ralf Gothóni. She has studied chamber music with Paavo Pohjola, Marko Ylönen, and Mats Zetterqvist.
