Abel Puustinen

Abel Puustinen is a Finnish violinist living in London, who despite his young age has seen concert halls both in Finland and abroad. In addition to his active work as a soloist, he has been enthusiastic about playing in orchestras and chamber groups. As a soloist, Puustinen has performed with e.g. the Helsinki Philharmonic and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. His work and passion for chamber music has taken Puustinen all around Europe and to Asia.

Puustinen, who studied in the Sibelius Academy for several years, has in the last years been taught by Laura Vikman and Antti Tikkanen in Finland. In the autumn of 2016, Puustinen started his studies at the Royal College of Music in London under professor Jan Repko.

The Violin Academy, supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, and many other master classes are an essential part of Puustinen’s study. He has taken part in master classes run by e.g. Ilya Grubert, Mi-Kyung Lee, Mihaela Martin, Hagai Shaham, and Elina Vähälä. Other important teachers on the journey so far have been Lauri Untamala, Géza Szilvay, Paavo Pohjola, and Marko Ylönen.
