Venla Lahti

Venla Lahti (b. 2002) began taking double-bass lessons at the East Helsinki Music Institute in 2009, studying mainly with Tarja Nyberg. In autumn 2017, she transferred to the Junior Sibelius Academy and in autumn 2021 began with Lasse Lagercrantz as her teacher in the Senior Academy. She has had many solo and chamber music engagements, with orchestras, and in spring 2021 in the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra’s Young Soloists concert.

Lahti has been an artist at the Kauniainen Music Festival and now the Helsinki Chamber Music Festival and has gained orchestral experience with the Helsinki Junior Strings, the Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, on the IOIA courses of the Vienna Philharmonic, with the Tapiola Sinfonietta and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, and she has been a member of the European Youth Orchestra since 2020. In 2016, she won the first prize for pupils in the upper comprehensive school in the National Double Bass Competition for young people. Lahti has also attended masterclasses with Esko Laine, Ödön Rácz, Janne Saksala and others.
